Winner – Betting on the overall winner of the race. You have two options for this, taking the odds at the time of the bet or choosing to go with the Starting Price (SP)
Early Prices: Published in the morning and available until Board Prices are published.
Board Prices – the odds listed on the bookmakers’ boards at a horse or greyhound racetrack. These prices usually appear around 15 minutes before the race starts, and take over from the early prices offered earlier in the day. The starting prices are then derived from these board prices.
Starting Prices (SP): Available throughout the race but unknown until it finishes. The customer can choose to bet on SP odds and accept that the SP odds can be higher or lower than Early Prices or Board Prices.
Forecast – Bet on two participants to finish in an exact position and order.
Each Way – An Each Way bet is placing an equal amount bet on To Win and To Place. This means that if the selected runner does not win, you receive some return if the runner finishes among the indicated places. The number of paid out places is indicated with each race. For example if the event indicates 3 places, then it means Top 3 runners in the race are considered to have placed.
Rule 4 – In some cases there is less runners participating in the race than originally stated. In such cases the Rule 4 applies which leads to reduction of winnings that is based on the odds of the runners that did not take part of the race – for example if the favorite does not participate, the reduction in winnings is bigger, while if an outsider does not take part, the reduction in winnings will be more minimal. Please refer to the General Sportsbook rules for more details on how this is applied.
Dead Heat Rule – If two or more runners receive an identical result, then the coefficient of the bet at the time of bet placement is divided by the number of participants that achieved the identical result.
To Place – required to select a horse that will finish in the top two positions as opposed to only winning the race.
Starting Price – or SP – is predominantly a horse racing term and is the price, or odds, on offer when a race begins.
